Juvenile protection expert jailed for child porn
A retired academic from Suffolk who specialised in childcare has been jailed after admitting a string of child pornography charges, prosecutors said.
Former college lecturer Kevin Pettican, 64, of Saxmundham admitted making and possessing indecent images of children, during a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court.
The Crown Prosecution Service said he was given a three-month prison sentence after the court heard he downloaded 92 indecent images of children on to his computer.
Prosecutors said Pettican had been a lecturer in social work and childcare at University Campus Suffolk in Ipswich and was a “child protection expert”.
