Central is currently recruiting for a Service Manager, to work in the Greenwich area. The service provides housing support for young people and aims to empower independent living.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Friday, 9AM – 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 3 months, with the possibility of transferring to permanent. The pay rate is £19.68 per hour, with £2.38 holiday pay, totalling £22.06 per hour.
Please note; the successful candidate will be overseeing two services, one based in Blackheath and the other in Charlton.
In this position, you will be required to:
* Manage 5 day staff, 3 night staff & 1 Team Manager; providing effective line management, supervision, training and development opportunities and overseeing staff recruitment
* Develop the team in providing individualised care in relation to the needs of every child which will be based on clinical knowledge and practice (underpinned by the organisations model of PIE, which includes attachment, resilience, trauma and dissociation theories)
* Ensure that needs and risk assessments are comprehensive, involve the young person and key professionals fully and are recorded and reviewed in line with policy and procedure
* Ensure that regular support and keywork (both informal and formal) is taking place in line with agreed care plans
* In conjunction with the Head of Service, facilitate a program of continuous improvement in an environment where young people are cared for, supported and have access to resources they need in order to improve & achieve positive and sustainable outcomes
* Build and develop community links for the service and ensure staff are working actively with the young people & engaging with activities available within the wider community such as mentor schemes
* Oversee any requirement regarding reports of regarding missing children, & to lead on coordinating a joined up response with statutory services
* Ensuring that the service represents value for money and operates within budget
* Ensure voids are communicated effectively to borough leads and filled with needs matched young people
* Ensure staff are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and fulfil their responsibilities within the organisations Health and Safety procedural framework
* In conjunction with the Head of Service act as point of reference for safeguarding concerns. Deliver local training for the staff team around safeguarding best practice
To apply for this role, you must have:
* Experience working with young people and staff and service management. Ability to manage staff performance and motivate staff to perform effectively
* High level understanding and ability to manage the range of issues involved in the delivery of quality services to young people with complex needs that might relate to learning disabilities, mental ill health, sexual and emotional abuse, domestic violence and sexual exploitation
* Knowledge & understanding of the new legislative framework that underpins the management of semi-independent provision for 16+ young people, in particular the role of Ofsted and the regulations governing national minimum care standards
* Ability to embed psychologically informed methods of work within an accommodation setting
* Experience of developing projects or facilitating group work with children or young people in a residential setting
* Strong networking skills, and proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to establish or improve services to service users
* Ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need
* High level of numeracy, literacy and comprehension in order to be able to contribute to budget setting, monitor expenditure, write reports and review, analyse and extrapolate from written information
* A recognised qualification specific to the level required for being a manager in a regulated provision (including social work or professional management qualification at Level 4/5)

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
