Stirling Council is changing, just as Stirling is changing. We are transforming how we work and deliver our services. Working with our community planning partners, Stirling Council is committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for every child who lives in the Stirling area. The “Stirling Plan” is clear, with an ambitious vision for the area to be somewhere everyone can thrive.
We are looking to recruit qualified Social Workers who, like us, are committed to making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families. These opportunities are full time and available in Locality teams in our Children & Families service.
You will work as part of a team of Social Work and Family Support staff in their efforts to identify and address local need and risk, to promote community wellbeing and safety. Within Stirling we want to significantly improve the experience for children and young people in our care and to utilise all of the strengths within the wider family and wider community, ultimately shifting the balance of care.
You will carry a varied workload, ranging from voluntary involvement, up to and including children subject to Child Protection processes, and those subject to Compulsory Measures of Care within the Children’s Hearing system, including those looked after away from home. We work with children and young people from pre-birth through to the age of 26, where required, supporting them through significant life transitions. Our aim is to support early and effective change, and to make timely decisions for children who may require permanent alternative care.
Along with excellent written and oral communication skills, you will have a working knowledge of GIRFEC, relevant legislation and have proven organisational skills, along with the ability to be flexible in your response to demands as required. You will be expected to work with a certain amount of autonomy but will be accountable to the responsible Team Leader.
We are also looking for staff who will work to and embrace the principles and values of the Promise in Scotland. Applicants must either – possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work or equivalent, or be Social Work students due to qualify and be registered with SSSC.
The Benefits
The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for children and adults. If your application is progressed after the interview, you will be invited to complete the form and have your details verified.
It is Stirling Council’s policy to ask that you pay for this.
If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
