Full Time Support Worker
This is an amazing opportunity to work with a wonderful young person on their journey into their own home, they are a young person with Autism & Learning Disabilities & has difficulties to communicate. They like consistent structure & routine in their day & need a staff team that will support them with a range of activities. They enjoy Disney, TV, You Tube & music, matching up colours, cooking, walks on the beach & the countryside.
We need support staff who will work with them for the long term, it is essential that we build trust & strong relationships with them to support his.
We need positive loyal, committed staff who will share their journey with a minimum two years experience working with autistic adults with a learning disability. Knowledge or experience of Positive Behaviour Support, Effective communication skills, experience of communication aids such as PECS, Now/Next etc. intensive interactions, Understanding of sensory needs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
To support the person in your care to enjoy life
To encourage the person in your care to maintain & develop life skills & to be part of their transition into the community
To plan & carried out activities, games & interact with their chosen activities.
To complete daily paperwork & reports accurately when necessary
To carry out range of household tasks including cleaning, washing, minor maintenance & repair tasks as directed, ensuring that high standards of hygiene & cleanliness are always maintained.
To be familiar & act in accordance with Orbis support policies & procedures & systems
To comply with all legal responsibilities under Health & Safety legislation.
To carry out house administration duties as required
Co-operative with & participate positively in staff activities & duties, including attending staff meetings, supervisions sessions performance reviews & to attend training.
To act in a calm & professional manner at all times.
Location: West of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. Training location will be Howard Street, North Shields
Salary: £12.50 an hour
Hours: Various shift patterns
