Children and Families Social Work Services looking for a Bairns Hoose Co-Ordinator to deliver on the ambition to offer children and young people a trauma sensitive, rights-based, recovery focussed response to their care, protection, justice and recovery needs.
The Bairns Hoose is based on the European Barnahus, a child-friendly, multi-disciplinary, and interagency model of justice, care and recovery for children who are victims and witnesses of all forms of violence. A carefully designed place where all services and supports are child centred, rights- based and recovery focussed with Police, Social Work, Health, Court and recovery support services based under one roof.
The Bairns Hoose Co-ordinator post will coordinate oversee and support the child/young person and their families journey, by working alongside them to navigate them through the process using a trauma informed approach. You will gather and evaluate each child young person and families experience of the process to inform improvements to our practice model and be involved in shaping and developing this service in line with agreed objectives.

You must be educated to SCQF Level 9.
if you are interested in the post of Bairns Hoose Co-ordinator you should have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of best practice and regulatory requirements in the field of child care and young peoples services. You must have an understanding of outcome focussed service planning and evaluation.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is fixed term until 31st of March 2025.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
