Women less driven by money and career progression, study suggests
Women’s approach to job-hunting could be contributing to the gender pay gap, a new study suggests.
Research by Tiger Recruitment indicated that women place less importance than men on salary and career progression and are more likely to prioritise a more meaningful job.
Women are also more likely to want to work for an ethical company, according to the survey of 1,000 employees.
“Campaigns around gender pay gap reporting and increasing the number of women in leadership roles have, quite rightly, highlighted the continued inequality between men and women in the workplace,” said Rebecca Siciliano, managing director at Tiger Recruitment.
“However, our findings show that, in many cases, this inequality could be driven not by discrimination, but by key differences in how men and women approach job-hunting and career development.”
