Webwatch: New app aims to dramatically improve communication for stroke survivors

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland has launched a new app that aims to dramatically improve the lives of people who have had a stroke resulting in a communication difficulty called Aphasia.

Aphasia means that it may be difficult to speak, understand speech, read or write after a stroke.

The Talk With Me app uses symbols, images and photographs to help with conversation and basic communication.

Talk with me is based on an existing Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland conversation support booklet which is widely used within NHS
Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, families, carers for people with Aphasia after stroke and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland rehabilitation and peer support services for over 10 years.

The new app has been developed with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland in partnership with Lawlor Technologies and funded by Scottish Government with an Adult Community Care Grant.

The app is free to download on Google Play and iTunes stores.
