Judge bans mother from identifying her child by publicising care case
A High Court judge has barred a woman whose child is at the centre of care proceedings from identifying the youngster if she tries to publicise the case.
Mr Justice Newton heard that the woman was unhappy and had told social services staff involved that she wanted to air her grievances.
He made an order barring the child from being identified in any media or internet coverage of the case at a hearing in the Family Division of the High Court on Thursday.
Lawyers representing a council with responsibility for the child’s welfare had asked for an “reporting restriction order” and said the youngster might suffer if identified in reports.
They said another judge would make decisions about the child’s future, following separate private family court hearings.
