NISCC Chair recognised for services to the community in Queen’s birthday honours
The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) Chair, Jim Perry, is receiving an MBE in this year’s Queens birthday honours for his services to the Community in Ballymena.
Colum Conway, NISC Chief Executive said: “Jim was appointed NISCC Chair in 2013 for a four year term and has been a NISCC Council Member since 2007; representing the views and needs of lay people in raising social care workforce standards. He is also Chair of Ulster Supported Employment Ltd, providing and supporting employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
“This award recognises how generously Jim gives his time and expertise to help public services and his local community.”
Closer to home, Jim is an active member of Ballymena Rotary Club and a major contributor to the highly successful ‘Ahoghill in Bloom’ team. Last year, he was appointed High Sheriff for the County of Antrim by the Secretary of State. This prestigious role granted him the honour of greeting Royal Visitors to the County and also involved the presentation of ‘County Antrim Grand Jury Bursary Awards’, to selected law students at Queen’s University.
Congratulations also go out to social workers Hugh Connor (Centre for Effective Services) and Fergal O’Brien (SHSCT) for their services to social work and social care. Between them they have over half a decade of service to communities in Northern Ireland.
Honours are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have made a difference to their community.
