Youth Offending Officer, YOS, Permanent
Southend Council are looking to appoint a full time, permanent Youth Offending Service Officer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering services to prevent and reduce offending behaviour amongst young people aged 10 – 18 years.
You will be expected to manage and undertake decision making of a complex caseload ensuring high quality assessment, intervention planning, review and risk management. Delivering services and interventions to young people as required by relevant legislation and National Standards.
You will be working with children & young people, developing and delivering age appropriate programmes and effectively contributing to all meetings and work closely with parents and other agencies as necessary.
This role will also require the successful candidate to attend Court as required and be on a rota which includes Saturdays.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must hold a relevant degree and have experience of working in a youth offending service; including court duties.
Have experience of working with young people who are assessed as being high risk of harm to the public and have the ability to manage complex needs. Have experience of and able to write reports for court.
To maintain both computer and paper files to a high standard. Contribute to and develop best practice within the team and service provision. Work out of hours as and when required and to work flexible hours and attend training as required.
