The Young People’s Service are offering an exciting opportunity for adults who are highly experienced in working with young people to join an innovative and award winning youth work team to deliver one to one support sessions, group work programmes and personalised support to young people aged 12-18 within Moffat Academy & Dalbeattie High School.
This post will provide low level mental health support and early intervention to support our Councils commitment to provide low level mental health support and counselling within all schools.
This post holder will work as part of the Youth Enquiry Service Team, rolling out their nationally recognised model for working with our most vulnerable young people in each school as part of the focus on reducing the attainment gap.
The post will be based in Moffat Academy or Dalbeattie High School, to provide support within the two schools but will also involve online support during the school holiday period and community based support in the evenings/weekends during the school holidays
This is an exciting time as we continue to take forward the work of Youth Enquiry Service to provide even more opportunities for young people to unlock their potential regardless of their backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the area of individual support and group work, and creatively be able to plan, deliver and evaluate their work with young people, whilst also being able to work as part of a team, and support young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.
All post holders will be required to undertake a formal counselling qualification as part of your induction.
These challenging and stimulating posts is part of a wider team of workers developing and supporting creative youth work opportunities and involvement across Dumfries and Galloway.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
