This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our professionally challenging and rewarding criminal justice teams. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of management of service delivery within a justice social work team which works specifically with women. This will include undertaking recording and monitoring work using a range of electronic case recording systems.
You will lead a team providing a Justice Social Work service to women across Renfrewshire at all stages of the criminal justice system, carrying out assessment and tailored interventions. This will include women in custody or in the community, bailed or diverted, and charged with/ convicted of a range of offences, including serious sexual and violent offences.
Experience of Social work management, knowledge of criminal justice legislation and national outcomes and standards are essential, as are good organisational and communication skills. Also that you are experienced in working with women in a criminal justice setting, e.g. client supervision; undertaking individual work and co-working in a multi-agency context; plus have knowledge and understanding of the impact of gender-based violence, abuse and trauma; and effective assessment.
It is also essential that you have a BA (Hons) in Social Work. You must also be registered with the SSSC and have the ability to work as part of a specialist team, work in a focused approach; be highly motivated with a positive attitude; have a flexible approach: be able to make full use of supervision and demonstrate a commitment to social work values.
It is desirable that you have a flexible approach to working evenings; previous experience of risk management, child and adult protection, delivering groupwork, writing reports for court and working with clients with a wide range of needs. Having undertaken and passed training in risk assessment tools such as LSCMI, SA07, RM2000 is also desirable. Possession of a driving licence is also desirable.

As this post involves access and use of the ViSOR information system and involvement in MAPPA cases, preferred candidates will be required to undergo the Non-Police Personnel Vetting, currently NPPV (full) level 2. Ongoing review will be required in line with agreed Home Office standards at that time.
