Travel Co-ordinator (Education & Workplaces) – Agency Full Time

Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full time agency Travel Co-ordinator to promote sustainable transport choices. through the development, coordination and delivery of targeted active travel promotional activity and personalised travel planning services. Along with other relevant events and activities.

The successful candidate will organise and assist in the delivery of sustainable transport initiatives within the Active Travel team and ForwardMotion initiative. Supporting the Programme Manager, you will be involved in the strategic development and delivery of travel engagement activities across Southend-on-Sea. You will coordinate and deliver travel engagement activity and personalised travel planning services targeted at workplaces and/or places of education and training, across the City including allocation of staff, volunteers and resources. Establish and maintain links with workplaces, schools, colleges and other relevant agencies to promote and deliver sustainable transport initiatives and personalised travel planning services in schools, colleges and workplaces.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and to travel around the borough.

What you’ll need to succeed
As this position requires you to be an advocate and ambassador of active travel, promoting a positive message across the City. You are required to have previous knowledge of active travel concepts, local schools and colleges, the education sector and the local education authority and/or of local business and enterprise networks and services.
You are required to attend public events, speak and liaise with other governing bodies, so you need to be comfortable speaking to new people, selling the idea of environmental travel.

Previous experience of working with the public in formal and informal settings, effective verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to work in a team and on own initiative with minimum supervision.

This position requires you to travel around Southend, so a drivers licence is essential.
