Technical Officer (HMO) – DEE03488 Full Time

Job Description

Based in 5 City Square, you will work full time, 37 hours per week, and working from home where required.

Requirements

You will have an HNC/SVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area.

Responsibilities

You will assist the Team Leaders (Regulation and Improvements and Maintenance) in surveying properties and examining plans, bills of quantities and estimates at application stage, interim inspections and instalment claims during the progress of the work and examining final accounts, in connection with improvement and repairs, including Care & Repair, to private sector properties and evaluating the amount applicable to grant. You will survey Council owned properties when required. You will survey properties and examine necessary documentation and prepare reports in respect of applications and enforcement action for Licenses for Houses in Multiple Occupation.

The Individual

You will have relevant experience in surveying properties.

You will have sound knowledge of building construction and services and identification of typical building defects and remedial works.

You will have good IT skills and effective communication and report writing skills. You will be organised, methodical and neat.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with landlords, agents and the public and be able to deal with sensitive issues on a private and confidential basis.

You will be assertive, flexible and adaptable and be able to work as part of a team or on your own with minimum supervision. A current driving licence (level 3) is required.
