Children and Families Social Work Services have an exciting new opportunity for a Social Work Team Manager post:

This is an exciting time to join the Children and Families Social Work Service and a great opportunity to lead, manage and develop social work services across Dumfries and Galloway. The successful candidates need to have a good sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and proven experience in managing Looked After, Children in Need and Children with disabilities teams.
The Team Manger Centralised Services team requires a qualified and experienced manager to lead our well-established Family Placement team, Residential Children’s Houses and Leaving Care team. This individual will be committed to coordinating a child centred service in line with current legislation and in accordance to Care Inspectorate requirements and supporting the development and introduction of the refreshed Strategic Commissioning Plan. The Centralised Services team work on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council to ensure effective fostering, residential and leaving care services for children in the community. This role will oversee recruitment and development of foster carers and supported lodgings as well as managing an organised, cost effective service.
All applicants for these roles should be qualified in social work and be able to evidence continuous professional development while also keeping up to date with childcare legislation, lead on the performance management, quality assurance and work at pace in line with our transformation agenda. These roles require not only skills in project management but also great interpersonal skills as you liaise with a range of professionals and key stakeholders. Successful candidates will be required to manage and lead a team of qualified social workers and social work assistants/family support workers; contribute to development of a range of voluntary and statutory social work activities and oversee professional social work tasks and ensure timely and procedural compliant assessments. The successful post holders will be expected to lead, manage and promote the roll out of the signs of safety methodology across Children and Families Social Work.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
