East Lothian Council have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to manage Lothian Villa Meadowmill which is a residential house for 6 young people based in Tranent who require care to meet their physical, emotional, psychological and social needs.
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic and experienced leader who is dedicated to providing high quality and child centred residential care. Applicants should be ready to shape and lead a full staff team who they will closely support to deliver detailed care plans in collaboration with their social work, education and health colleagues.
As a key member of the multiagency team around the young people, applicants should be able to work effectively with partner agencies and family members in order to maintain high standards of communication and coordination of care plans.
In line with The Promise and Signs of Safety framework, the Team Leader would work closely with young people and their families to promote positive relationships and inclusive care planning as appropriate.
We are looking for an experienced leader who can support, nurture and model a positive workplace culture while prioritising the resilience of the team as a whole.
This post will be part of the leadership team who deliver residential care across East Lothian but will also link closely with Team Leaders for our children and young people teams within Children’s Services.
The team in the residential house will consist of 1 x Team Leader, 2 X Assistant Team Leader and 9 Residential Childcare Support Workers with additional locum support. There is also a complement of domestic and admin staff.
Applicants must have a detailed understanding of complex attachment disorders, sound relational caring value base, excellent assessment communication and report writing skills and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of children and family’s social work role and responsibilities. Applicants should have the skills to manage a team and be an enthusiastic and motivated leader with a passion for residential child care.

Relevant Qualifications
Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC Registration.
Certificate in Child Protection or Post Qualifying award in Practice Teaching or Mental Health.
Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

PVG Membership
