Secure Unit – Complex Needs Support Worker
Your new company
Based in Swansea, this unit is home to those with complex and mental health issues. The setting can be challenging so resilience and understanding are key skills required. The goal is to offer the best support and guidance to those who cannot otherwise understand their own behaviour where there are also elements of learning disabilities. Despite their complex needs, the service users are very active and engaging and require this from their support workers also. Your new role
Supporting residents in their day to day tasks
Engaging with the residents’ activities and encouraging independence
Guiding and nurturing residents to fulfil their goals
Safeguarding and protecting residents and ensuring wellbeing
Recognising when to intervene when faced with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour
Carrying out household tasks
Creating and storing records while complying with GDPR
Working as part of a highly active team
Elements of personal care and administering medication
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience within a similar setting
Resilience, self-motivation and the enthusiasm to engage with active residents
Excellent communication skills
Able to navigate a challenging situation
A DBS on the update service is a plus
