Potter Johnson Recruitment are pleased to be working together with a well established service providing residential care homes for vulnerable children. Currently they have multiple homes that have been rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted and are looking to expand. As a result, our client is currently recruiting more enthusiastic and dedicated people to join their team.
For the Support worker role, you will need to have had experience of working in a Children's home. Successful Support worker will be confident, works well to their own initiative, possess excellent communication skills, is a good decision maker and has the ability develop staff to their full potential.
Annual salary: £26,000 per annum (including 2 sleep shifts per week)
Hours: 40 hours per week – Full time (Adhering to a monthly rota)
Purpose of the Role of Support worker:
A support worker is responsible to deliver high standards of care, protection and support to the children and young people in their care, facilitating their physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. A support worker is required to support children and young people’s educational and recreational development in line with the individual care plans. A support worker is required to undertake continued training and learning to attain the skills and knowledge required when working with children in residential care. A support worker will work directly with children and young people, doing shifts and sleep-ins, providing high-quality care and support.
Abilities required for the Role of Support worker include but are not limited to:
* To provide young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties warmth and nurture.
* To provide an environment where young people grow and develop.
* To help young people to become self-aware and begin to deal with underlying trauma, loss, neglect and rejection.
* To provide a safe, predictable and structured environment where young people’s needs are met without the need for them to resort to challenging behaviour.
* To provide a secure base from which young people can develop independence skills and go on to lead fulfilling and successful adult lives.
A support worker is required to:
* Work shifts according to the rota
* Attend and contribute to the professional supervision process and reflect on practice
* Achieve the level 3 diploma qualification within 2 years
* Record and write up relevant care documents to the required standard
* Be a role model to children and young people
* Follow company policy in practice
* Demonstrate a flexible approach to provide the best possible care to young people
* Report and record all safeguarding concerns
Essential Requirements for the Role of Support worker:
* Two years experience working in a Children's Home.
* Hold or be willing to achieve a Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care with Children and Young People.
* Be prepared to work early, late and night shifts (including sleepovers) on a rota basis.
* Be over the age of 21 (Employer has claimed an exemption under the Equality Act 2010).
Desirable Requirements for the Role of Support worker:
* Hold a full UK driving license.
