The Short Term Assessment and Reablement Service (STARS)
This post is part of the Nithsdale team based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries. You will be require to work 36 hours per week.
As part of wider Home Teams, reporting to Senior Practitioners STARS, you will be responsible for the effective management and supervision of Health and Social Care Support Workers, providing high quality reablement at home in accordance with both Dumfries and Galloway Council and NHS Policies.
It essential that you have experience of working with customers/public and experience of supervising and supporting staff with an ability to develop effective team working by influencing and leading staff. An awareness of and the ability to promote partnership working across health and social care settings are also essential, as are IT skills; effective communication skills, organisational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise your own workload; good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
An SVQ Level 2 in care or working towards, and moderate (2 years) work experience in Health or Social Care is desirable, as are experiences of recruitment, induction, training and staff development processes along with those relating to maximising attendance, risk assessment and health and safety are desirable.
You must be willing to undertake NPA qualification in Reablement and it is essential you have experience of supporting personal care. It is essential that you understand National Health and Social Care Standards
You will be required to participate in a shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays and be available on standby duties as part of a rota with other colleagues.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged
