The focus of the post will be to work fulfil statutory duties associated with the role of the Mental Health Officer in a well-established, experienced and supportive team of 8 Mental Health Officers. The post represents an excellent development opportunity for a qualified Mental Health Officer looking for a new challenge.

A substantial, but not exclusive, focus of this role will be to conduct work relating to statutory Mental Health Officer duties under the Adults With Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 including the preparation of reports relating to applications for Guardianship. The post requires engagement with service users, paid and unpaid carers, and family members in a variety of community and hospital-based settings.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.  If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
