We are looking for enthusiastic social workers to be part of supportive and busy Children and Families Long Term Teams in the East of the Scottish Borders. We have posts in Duns and a post in Hawick. The post holders will be part of teams working with children, young people and families facing difficulties and who need long term social work. This includes children subject to child protection registration as well as within the legal framework of the Children’s Hearing system. The post holder will work with looked After Children, including children subject to permanence planning.
The nature of our work ensures you will have opportunity to hold a varied caseload that encompasses everything that statutory social work has to offer. As a local authority Scottish Borders Council is relatively small, affording Children’s Services Social Workers the opportunity to establish and maintain peer relationships across the service. This is very much promoted and every opportunity is given to support our frontline staff.
CCETSW approved qualifications in Social Work e.g. Dip SW Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.*
*If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
Scottish Borders Council is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from all minority groups and individuals who identify with one or more of the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010. In particular from candidates who assess themselves as having a disability, under the Disability Confident Employer scheme this guarantees an interview to those individuals who meet the essential criteria of the post. All appointments will be made on merit.
