A vacancy has arisen for a Social Worker in Midlothian’s health and social care partnership substance misuse service. The substance misuse team is located within a joint health and social care service, providing medical, health and social work support to those with needs arising from issues with substance use. The social work section of the service is a small close knit team with an excellent reputation who provide social work/care managing support to individuals with needs arising from using substances.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a range of social work and care managing tasks including assessments, care plans, risk assessments, resource finding, development of care or support packages, reviews with service users and support/complement health colleagues in the wider team. They will liaise with external agencies, service users and carers to develop support/care arrangements, building positive, co-operative working relationships with colleagues and engaging effectively with outside agencies. They will participate in team meetings, staff development sessions and regular supervision. The post holder will be expected to complete section administration requirements including the maintenance of case records and keep informed of changes in guidelines, procedures and legislation as they affect the service user group.
The post holder will undertake any other appropriate duties as determined by the Chief Social Work Officer or their nominee.
This is a challenging and rewarding role providing the opportunity of working in an experienced substance misuse social work service within a multi-disciplinary community mental health and substance misuse service with close links with the voluntary sector.
The essential qualifications for a Social Worker within the Substance Misuse Team is a degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker or a Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration as a social worker is an acceptable alternative.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £35,409.35 per annum.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
