Social Worker – Placements & General Fostering Full Time

A well-established supportive and stable staff team who provide a range of foster care placements to children and young people who are looked after in the South East Wales area.

Your new role

You will undertake sensitive, acute and complex adoption work comprising of assessment, supervision and support of prospective and existing foster carers which will require court attendance and other formal settings. Routinely undertake extensive complex assessments of the suitability of applicants to foster and present these assessments to formal panels as required. Participate in placement matching decisions and recommendations. Implementing short term and long term foster care placements, operating specialist schemes such as Transitional Foster Carers and parent and child and family link, working closely with foster carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for our children and young people.

Type of environment

As a Social Worker you will have manageable caseloads and are able to access a Placement Support Worker, who will work with carers to ensure that appropriate advice and guidance is provided to enabling you to continue to provide care to the children/young people who they are looking after and can include support during a crisis.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Social Work Degree or other Social Work qualification

* Registration with Social Care Wales.

• Knowledge of current Social Services legislation Children Act 1989 & 2004, Social Services and Well Being Act (Wales) 2014 and Local Authority Fostering Service Wales regulations 2018 and Code of Practice.
• Capacity to problem solve whilst working under pressure.
• Experience of identifying the needs of children and young people.
• The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh. (Desirable)
