The successful candidate will be involved in delivering a high quality mental health social work and care management outcome focused service as a member of an integrated community team whilst working to the SSSC Code of Practice; along with promoting and facilitating a responsive integrated MHO Service approach within Aberdeenshire Council whilst working to the National Standards.
The successful candidate will be involved in working as a member of the South Community Mental Health Team. You will be required to work closely with other professionals including NHS Grampian, Police and third sector providers.
You will require to provide a professional social work service to adults in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of social work duties and working collaboratively with clients who have complex needs to formulate support plans that maximise abilities, enable individuals to make choices and to work towards their identified goals, whilst identifying and minimising vulnerability and risks.
You will undertake all required MHO duties, including completing Mental Health Officer Assessments, preparing applications and completing reports, attending court and Mental Health Tribunals, along with providing advice and guidance to practitioners arising from the relevant legislation, associated codes of practice and local procedures. There will be a requirement to participate in the Community, Hospital, Out Of Hours Emergency Service.
Consideration will be given to qualified Social Workers who are not Mental Health Officers but whom would be willing to undertake the Mental Health Officer award course.
The post holder will cover all of the teams catchment area within South Aberdeenshire and as such some travel is expected. The work base will be Stonehaven, however this can be flexible and may be negotiated to Banchory if this better suits the preferred candidate.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
