East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership have been on a journey to redesign services so that the voices of children and young people are at the heart of what we do. We have a strengths based, family minded approach which prioritises listening to children and young people and getting alongside them and their parents and carers so that together, we can deliver better outcomes for families and make East Renfrewshire the best place to grow up.
We are looking for an enthusiastic social worker to join our Request For Assistance service in providing early identification and support for families. The Request for Assistance service, is comprised of Health, Occupational Therapy, Family Group Decision Making (FGDM), Social Work and our Domestic Abuse Advanced Practitioner. The service can be accessed by any organisation or member of the public, where they believe that a child or young person needs help, advice or direct support from the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
The service is non case-holding and instead focuses on early identification and screening of risk and or need, identifying cases that require immediate investigatory action or targeted intervention, streamlining referral routes and making it easier for practitioners and partners in our community and/or intensive teams to do their job and for children and their families to receive help. This single referral pathway reduces the time necessary to access the support that a child and/or young person requires.
It is essential that you are a qualified, registered social worker with a recognised Social Work Diploma or Degree.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with children and protected adults.
If you are not currently registered with SSSC you will commence employment as a Social Work Assistant (Grade 7 – £24,143 to £26,425) until full registration is obtained.
This post requires Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration. You must currently have registration or eligibility to apply from commencement of employment (you must complete registration within the first 6 months of employment).
Employees with a contract of employment for 3 months or more are automatically included in our Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average scheme. Pension contribution rates are based on a tiered system determined by your annual full time equivalent pensionable pay. For example for those earning up to and including £21,800 the contribution rate you pay is 5.5% of your salary. The council pays the rest of the cost of providing your benefits. This amount varies but it’s always enough to make sure your pension can be paid and will be at least 19.3% of your pay. In addition you get tax relief on your contributions – the tax you pay on your salary is calculated after your pension contributions are deducted.
Other main pension benefits include a pension that increases each year in line with price inflation and the ability to exchange some of your pension to provide a tax free lump sum. Further details can be found in the attached document General Information for Applicants or via the Strathclyde Pension Fund website www.spfo.org.uk.
