Social Worker (13/36)
£34,914 – £37,560
We are looking for a Social Worker to join the Children with Disability Team based across Dumfries and Galloway. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative person with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for some of our most vulnerable children. The applicant should have a keen interest in promoting the needs of Children with disabilities and supporting them and their families in a way that is best for them as individuals. The successful applicant will be based in Wigtownshire alongside the Locality Team whilst being part of the specialist regional team.
Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful rural area with many different small towns and villages, a scenic coastline and hills. There are lots of sporting opportunities available including a range of mountain bike trails. Stranraer has good transport links to Belfast and Glasgow and from Dumfries travel to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle is easy.
As we are a very rural team covering a large geographical area, we support team members to work in a flexible and agile way, this is particularly the case during this current pandemic where staff are working from home as much as possible. Your office base can be discussed, this will be either in Newton Stewart or Stranraer.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
