The vision for the National Mental Health Strategy 2017-2027 is of a Scotland where people can get the right help at the right time, expect recovery, and fully enjoy their rights, free from discrimination and stigma. The aim of the strategy is to achieve parity between mental health and physical health. Action 15 of this Strategy makes a commitment to increase the workforce to give access to dedicated mental health professionals within four key settings, including every police station custody suite.
The Crisis Intervention Practitioner will be involved in the delivery of Crisis Intervention and Support Service for people who are experiencing mental health and wellbeing issues and have had contact with the justice system (e.g. Police Scotland). The Crisis Intervention Practitioner will ensure that people who experience mental health crisis and have come into contact with justice or Health Services, but do not meet the criteria for statutory support and intervention, are able to access the right service at the right time delivered by the right agency.
The Crisis Intervention worker will be an experienced practitioner and will have the skills and knowledge to assess and screen situations to identify the appropriate level of intervention required. The service that the individual receives will be tailored to their specific needs, with follow on support arranged as required.
This is a new service for Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership and offers an excellent opportunity to be part of an innovative and ground-breaking team – working closely with other agencies.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 6 months of employment.
