Social Worker: Immigration and Asylum Support for Young People, Children and Families

Salary: £35,936 – £42,492 per year
Hours: 36 per week
Located in the South West Children and Families Practice Team, the post holder will assess need and develop effective support packages for children and their families who have No Recourse to Public Funds and for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.
The post holder will take a lead role in assessing families who present as destitute and have no recourse to public funds, offering advice, support and guidance as necessary.
The post holder will take a lead role in carrying out age assessments of young people presenting as Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and will support other social work staff in age assessment processes. Training will be provided for this.
The post holder will take the lead role in developing care plans for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. The post holder will be experienced in working collaboratively with others.
The post holder will also act as a resource to the Communities and Families Department offering advice and guidance to managers and staff with regard to immigration legislation as it impacts on children and families with no recourse to public funds and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.

Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification recognised by the SSSC.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
