Social Worker – Children’s Disability Practice Team

Salary: £34,057 – £40,275 per year
Hours: 36 per week
The Children’s Disability Practice Team is based at 25 North Fort Street, Leith, Edinburgh. This post covers the whole of the City of Edinburgh.
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic practitioner who is committed to high standards of practice and delivering the best outcomes for young people and families. The post holder must have a degree or diploma in Social Work. They will be expected to have a good working knowledge of current legislation. At the core of our work is the GIRFEC agenda and a Restorative approach in meeting assessed needs and outcomes. There is an expectation that our social workers will have knowledge and ideally experience in both of these.
The post covers working with children with a disability and their families, along with holding cases on a statutory basis or due to child protection concerns. We also work with children who are Looked After, including those who are Looked After and Accommodated. A worker in the team needs to have experience of completing assessments of need and risk along with assessments relating to the child’s disability and the needs of the carer. A key aspect of the role will be to develop good multiagency working.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
