Job Purpose: An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the Highland Council’s Criminal Justice Drug and Alcohol Service, and the wider Alcohol Drug and Recovery Service, for an enthusiastic social worker to join a multidisciplinary team.

A significant part of the role will be in the development of a pilot project, delivering a multi-agency Immediate Response Pathway in Inverness and surrounding areas for individuals who are at high risk of drug related overdose and drug related death. The team will need to be able to respond quickly to notifications of people at high risk, provide prompt support for adverse events such as NFOD (Non-Fatal Overdose), and the post holder will participate in the development of care pathways across A&E, Police Service, Courts, Custody, and Scottish Prison Service and relevant agencies.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in the Drug and Alcohol Recovery field, as well as experience of working in a community environment, together with knowledge of drug and alcohol recovery and adult mental health evidenced through their professional development. Excellent communication skills and leadership skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team is an essential requirement for the ideal candidate.

To work with and manage substance using clients and contribute to developing services in line National Outcomes & Standards for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System.

The successful candidate will be required to work in partnership with other providers and agencies within Highland to deliver recovery orientated community drug/alcohol treatments to clients in recovery.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and team working skills, who is ready to provide a high standard of care when addressing substance use issues.
