The post is a full-time permanent Social Work Assistant position within the Cupar Children and Families Team. Hours of work are 08:48 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. It is however sometimes necessary to work out-with these hours. The Council does operate a mobile and flexible working scheme.

The Cupar Children and Families Team covers a wide geographical area in Fife including Crail, Anstruther, St Andrews, Newport, Tayport, Newburgh, Cupar and Lower Largo. The role of the Social Work Assistant is to support Social Workers and Senior Practitioners within the team in working with vulnerable children and their families. The role involves some allocated case worker responsibility, including contributing to the development of completing assessments of need and risk, supervising family contact and working alongside other professionals to improve the outcomes for service users. You will be required to manage your own diary and ensure effective, timeous case recording.
A relevant qualification such as SVQ 3/HNC or equivalent would be desirable. Experience of working with vulnerable children and their families. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills. You should have an ability to work flexibly, adapt to change and innovate.
Other essential individual criteria for this post are:

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
