Social Care Worker
23.5 hours per week, Shift working over seven days
Permanent
£29,618 – £30,319 / £31,082 – £33,354, pro rata
£15.36 – £15.72 / £16.12 – £17.29 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. There will be opportunity to work in all parts of the service, as the service requires.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred, outcome focused approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach, which includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.
For appointment at Grade E:
Applicants should hold a minimum of SVQ2 Social Services and Health Care, or equivalent level qualification, and are required to achieve SVQ3 Social Services and Health Care, or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC, within 3 years of appointment.
For appointment at Grade F:
Applicants should hold SVQ3 Social Services and Health Care, or other relevant qualification to enable registration with SSSC.
The successful applicant is required to register with the SSSC, as a Support Worker in a Housing Support Service, within 6 months of employment.
This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults
