Social Care Co-ordinator
37 hours per week, Shift working over 7 days
Temporary up to 28 October 2021
£34,350- £37,831 pro rata (Including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
The Care at Home Service is recruiting to a full time temporary Social Care Co-ordinator, to be part of the team of 4 Social Care Coordinators.
This role manages the day to day operations of the Care at Home Service across the Orkney Mainland and the Isles. You will have specific responsibility for the management, supervision and support of dedicated teams of Home Carers and Assistant Social Care Coordinators.
Duties will include Observations of Practice, staff appraisals, Team Meetings and alongside colleagues, you be collectively responsible for the design, coordination and delivery of aspects of training and providing induction to new staff. This post supports the Registered Manager in achieving the quality and regulatory requirements of the Care Inspectorate and contributes to the development of the service. As part of this process you will undertake reviews, file and systems audits and other quality control systems.
You will be responsible for processing referrals and for the assessment, development and review of packages of care designed to meet individual needs and outcomes, working with individual service users, partner agencies and families to develop person-centred support packages.
It is essential that the post holder has experience of using computer planning and filing systems and packages to be able to use the Care at Home electronic rostering and monitoring system (Staffplan). Specific Staffplan training will be provided.

The Care at Home Service operates from the office base in School Place between 07.00 – 22.30, 7 days per week. You will be expected to work to a rota pattern and be required to work your contracted hours over 5 days out of 7 on a shift basis.
You must hold SVQ 4 in Social Services and Health care or; Practice qualification that meets the SSSC registration requirements as a Superviser in Care at Home Service i.e. HNC in Health and Social Care, SVQ3 in Health and Social Care and Supervisory qualification that meets the SSSC registration requirements as a Supervisor in a Care at Home Service or meet the requirement to achieve this within the first period of registration.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
