Physical Disability Service – Glaitness Centre
Social Care Assistant
33.75 hours per week, Shift working on a rota basis over seven days
Permanent
£24,339 – £25,591 pro rata (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house, and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. There will be opportunity to work in all parts of the service.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.
A minimum standard of experience of working with this service user group is preferred.
You should hold an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care, or other relevant qualification, to enable registration with the SSSC or achieve this within 5 years of appointment.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
