Job Description

Requirements

The teams are well structured and there is a very low turnover of staff and a low sickness absence rate, which reflects the very good levels of support, supervision and professional development. You will be joining a responsive, progressive and innovative Social Work resource where children’s needs are central to policy, practice and partnership working.

There are two parts to residential childcare worker qualification requirements. You must have a practice qualification plus an award of certificated knowledge, or one qualification which meets the full criteria. The main qualifications are detailed below: SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7 and HNC Social Services. Responsibilities

Foreign Police Check

Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.

This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.

Regulated Work with Children

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
