An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced individuals to join the Refugee Resettlement Programme Team.
As a Support Officer you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of services to support Refugees who have arrived in South Lanarkshire through a number of resettlement routes.
You should have experience working with refugees and understand the complexity and nature of the support that they require. Possession of a relevant qualification in Housing, Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential if you have relevant experience working with refugees from a specialist service including employability and volunteering provisions.
The Refugee Resettlement Team is registered with the SSSC you will be expected to register and undertake training as appropriate.
You will be required to work on a multi agency basis to develop individual support plans therefore, you should possess excellent communication skills, have an understanding of current issues and legislation in relation the Resettlement programmes.
You should be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of a variety of IT packages and have the ability to organise and prioritise workload, your own and that of others, in an effective way and to respond and adapt to changing priorities required in delivering a quality service.
The Council is committed to maintaining the skills and competence of our housing support staff staff. As part of your duties you will be required to undertake further training and/or qualifications, including those introduced by the Scottish Social Services Council for employees working in the housing support sector.
You will be required to have access to a vehicle for business purposes at all times. If you do not have access to a vehicle you would be eligible to apply to our car loan scheme or personal leasing as part of our employee benefits package.
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
