In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services.
We are recruiting for six full time Social Work Assistants for 9 months within Justice Services to provide a professional service to our service user groups. Funding for these posts have been awarded until 31st March 2022 however; the successful candidate will be recruited on a temporary basis within the Justice Services but will have permanent contract to work within South Lanarkshire Council We would welcome applications from individuals who have experience of delivering justice services and/or groupwork programmes.
You will be working as a member of well-established Justice teams to promote and provide a justice social work service through working in conjunction with the Justice team leaders and social workers across South Lanarkshire. Your role will consist of providing responsive support and interventions to individuals who are made subject to a statutory court order and promote their rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
You will act as a Social Work Assistant and undertake casework involving partnership working and provide professional advice and guidance to individuals, families and groups within the community. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills to complete all formal, informal reports and case notes which need to be of a high standard.
In addition, you should be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds and be able to gain their trust, in order to help them get the best from our services. You should be able to deal with a variety of situations where your tact, patience and understanding will be needed. You will need to assess and cope with these situations in a sensitive and non-judgmental way.
All applicants should have experience of delivering social work services within a statutory setting, and hold relevant social care qualifications to SVQleve3/4 in justice or care services.
Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
