To be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of specialist welfare casework, community and information services in support of the People Support Organisation’s Mission Statement:
“To provide accessible support services that strengthen and enhance the resilience and resourcefulness of Naval Service personnel, their families and communities in order to contribute to the Moral Component and optimise Operational Capability”
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
NS FPS is an integral part of Navy Command’s People Support organisation offering a range of services to Naval Personnel, their families and wider military communities across the UK and Overseas. NS FPS provides 3 core pillars of service; Casework; Community Development and Outreach Support; and Information & Communication Platforms. This adaptable and integrated organisation strives to enable and sustain resilience and resourcefulness within our diverse Service population.
You will be a qualified Social Worker with considerable experience in both front-line service delivery, staff and service delivery management. You must be able to demonstrate high levels of skill in leadership; deliver at pace; change and improve; develop self and others; think strategically but deliver operationally; possess sound organisational ability; adaptive and innovative.
Experience of working for the military is desirable.
The Scotland Team delivers services to the Naval Serving Community, their families, and the Command regions, notably, HMNB Clyde, Faslane (home of RN’s Submarine Service), MOD Caledonia, Rosyth, and RM Condor, Arbroath. The Team’s approach and ethos is about collaborative and integrated working across the disciplines. As the C1 Service Manager, you will lead, direct and support your team in its delivery outputs ranging from the critical tasking of Visiting Officer assignments; adult and children safeguarding to the broader platform of community engagement activities and projects. As a member of the NS FPS Senior Management Team (SMT), you will have opportunities to shape and lead on policy, be a member of or project manage areas of business arising from internal organisational priorities or change agenda directives from Navy Command. This post is a mobile grade which allows for working in locations across Scotland, and other area teams, as operational requirements dictate; it also requires travel which can be of substantial distances necessitating overnight stays away from home. Full UK Driving Licence desirable.
Social Work Degree or an equivalent Professional Social Work qualification (CQSW or DIPSW)
Current Registration with Social Work England or the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
