The jobholder must hold a qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council to CQSW or Social Work degree equivalent in order to evidence the basic knowledge necessary for the job; a post-graduate management qualification is desirable in view of the management and staffing responsibilities.

A thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system and of current changes to partnership working is vital in order to understand the issues and resources associated with supporting offenders and their families. This will have been developed by working in a senior post within the Criminal Justice field, probably within local government. Additionally, substantial experience of managing practitioners in a criminal justice setting is vital and a proven competence with managing budgets and resources. Both these are likely to have been learned “on-the-job” post basic qualification.

Is expected to advise on the interpretation of initiatives from the Scottish Government and the Community Justice Authority; and to recommend and implement changes of policy, procedure and standards.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £60,430. 70 per annum.
