Main Function
The Service Leader will support the Managing Coordinator to ensure that the care and support provided by the service meets the needs of children and their families who use it. The service Leader will be the lead manager within the service with responsibility for day to day management.
The Service Leader will be required to contribute to achieving the highest professional standards of social care practice and for ensuring that quality standards are met, reflecting CrossReach Christian Ethos and Mission Statement.
Main Duties
To implement and uphold the aims, objectives, policies and procedures of CrossReach and Children andamp; Family Services.
As Service Leader your main responsibilities will include:
Planning and Development
To assist the Managing Co-Ordinator in the formulation of a yearly plan and work as a member of the management team to ensure that priorities outlined therein are met.
Quality Assurance
To assist the Managing Co-Ordinator in all aspects of Quality Assurance and to be responsible for the quality of care experienced children and young people.
Financial and Administrative Management
To assist the Managing Co-ordinator as required in the preparation, management and monitoring of the annual operating budget.
To support Managing Coordinator with daily management of operational budget.
To ensure that client’s records are maintained in line with CrossReach policy.
To contribute to the maintenance of systems to gather, record and store information/data.
Personnel Management
To assist in the recruitment and selection of staff as required.
To be responsible for the direct supervision of staff.
To ensure that CrossReach personnel policies are implemented and understood by all staff within the team and participate in the disciplining of staff when appropriate.
To undertake or facilitate the assessment of staff for SVQs and/or the supervision of students through practice teaching.
To be responsible for the planning and allocation of work carried out by staff.
To assist in unit based induction training, ongoing training within the unit and be accountable to the unit manager for the training and development of team members.
To convene regular team meetings.
Professional Development
To keep abreast of current developments in the social care field in order to ensure that the highest standards of care are achieved.
To attend meetings, training courses and seminars as required.
Liaison
To assist the Managing Co-Ordinator in the promotion of services and to maintain close working relationships, as required, with all relevant professionals involved in the care of children and young people.
Maintaining effective communication, contact and co-operation with relatives and friends of children and young people.
General Management
To conduct or arrange devotions for children, young people and colleagues who wish for this to take place.
To undertake responsibilities in relation to health and safety as delegated by the Managing Co-ordinator.
To be responsible for a particular specialist area of work as directed by the managing co-ordinator.
To undertake other duties as may responsibility fall within the parameters of the post as delegated by the Managing Co-Ordinator.
To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.
