We recruiting a suitably qualified Rehabilitation Officer to support people with Sensory Impairment in East Dunbartonshire.
A Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies Visual Impairment or a recognised equivalent qualification is essential for this post. However, we will also consider applications from Rehabilitation Assistants who are undertaking study and are due to fully qualify soon.
You will provide a specialist assessment service to Sight Impaired, Severely Sight Impaired, d/Deaf and dual sensory impaired people of all ages.
You will design and implement individual rehabilitation programmes and arrange other supports to enable people to live as independently and safely as possible in the community.
You will work in a busy team with Occupational Therapists and other Health and Social Care professionals.
You must have good organisational and communications skills and a genuine interest in working with people who are d/Deaf; Sight impaired or Dual Sensory impaired/Deafblind
You will be responsible for managing your own time and workload.
This post is for 17.5 hours a week on a 12 month contract.
You must be able to travel independently and having a Full Driving Licence is an advantage.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
