Senior Social Worker
Salary: £37,589 – £44,934
Hours: 36 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker within the Young Adult Disability (YAD) Team, supporting the transition of individuals from children to adult services. The role requires strong partnership working with a committed, focused, dynamic and forward-thinking leadership approach. The successful candidate will be responsible for and provide direct supervision to a team of Social Workers and will co-ordinate the ongoing management of transition for young people with a disability between the ages of 14 – 25, providing a single point of contact to hold discussions and plan for the next steps in the persons life.
The team works alongside the Children Affected by Disability (CAD) Team and are ordinarily co-located to ensure a cross departmental approach. The YAD Team are currently working as an innovation site for the three conversations approach, looking at how they can engage well with young people and their families to work towards their aspirations and achieve good outcomes. Their main aim is to plan with young people to explore community resources, make connections within communities, explore informal networks, and plan for formalised funded support when this is appropriate. This support could be for day opportunities or support with planning a move from the family home. The team also undertake all other case management tasks which may be required and include adult protection.
The transition period can be a challenging time for young people and their families and the role requires the successful candidate to work under pressure, forward plan and establish productive working relationships with all key stakeholders.
This post is considered Regulated Work with vulnerable children and protected adults, under the protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
The successful candidate will also be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
