An exciting opportunity has arisen within Dumfries & Galloway’s Family Hub 75. We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to work 36 hour per week for a 12 month period, the post may be suitable for secondment. You should have a minimum of three years post-qualifying experience and the energy and enthusiasm to manage a busy team.

The Family Hub 75 provides support to children and their families including group work, one to one outreach support and crisis work. We offer an early intervention and prevention service to support children and their families to reach their full potential, improve the quality of a child’s home and family life, support them to perform better at school and improve their mental wellbeing. Early help can help protect children from harm, reduce the need for a referral to Child Protection Services and improve children’s long-term outcomes.
Family Hub 75 plays a crucial role in keeping families together through a Whole Family Support approach and may include support for our care experienced young people.
Within Children and Families Social Work we use a strength-based, relationship building approach when working with families and have recently introduced Safe and Together Practice and we have developed plans using learning from The Promise and the UNCRC to ensure that families can get the right support at the right time.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative person with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children as well as someone who can lead an established team and manage the day-to-day operations within the Hub as lead tenant. You would be expected to be involved in planning and delivering of training in addition to chairing professional meetings.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
Requirements:
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
You should be educated to Social Work degree / DipSW / CQSW or equivalent and have a post-qualifying award.
