£43,623 – £46,983
Dumfries & Galloway’s Fostering and Adoption Team are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our team. This is a 36 hour per week post. Base to be determined on appointment.
This is a region wide team providing a comprehensive service to kinship, foster and adoptive carers to help support the children and young people they care for. We are looking for an experienced child and family’s social worker to join a strong and established team operating across the region. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative person with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children.
You will be working in a busy and supportive Fostering and Adoption Team, supervising social workers and social work assistants who undertake the recruitment, assessment and support of prospective foster carers and adoptive carers. You will work with staff in the development and delivery of training and support to foster and adoptive carers. You will play an active part in matching the needs of children requiring placements to the skills and attributes of carers.
You will manage and supervise a staff team of social workers and social work assistants while undertaking duties in accordance to fostering and adoption legislation, leaving care and meeting the needs of Care Inspectorate requirements as a registered service. You will also carry out all other statutory duties associated with the post. Key to this process is working in partnership with service users and other key stakeholders and professionals. We are committed to the continuing professional development of staff and will support you with training requirements and by regular supervision.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
