We are seeking 2 Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapists to join our dynamic and growing team of Occupational Therapists and community care workers team in East Lothian. Both postholders will be based in East Lothian Community Hospital and will have line management responsibilities for a small group of staff and provide supervision of staff, ensuring training and PRDs are up to date and relevant to each person and with the overall business plan. The postholder will also hold a small caseload.
The postholder will participate in the weekly ‘ Request for Assistance’ Rota where all new requests for Occupational Therapy are discussed at the point of contact. This is a telephone line for clients or professionals requesting Occupational Therapy intervention from Community OT.
The post holders will be expected to take a lead role in the future development of the OT service and be an effective member of a forward thinking team, providing a responsive and needs led service.
The Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapists will have proven skills in excellent time management, experience of supervision and excellent knowledge of people with complex conditions which require community Occupational Therapy Intervention. This post is also responsible for delegated authority functions and therefore have sound skills in underpinning knowledge around housing adaptations.
The Senior Practitioner will also be responsible for management tasks as delegated by the Team Manager or other member of the collaborative management team as part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service.
To provide a responsive and needs led occupational therapy service throughout East Lothian within the requirements of relevant legislation, national standards, policies and guidelines.

Qualification recognised by professional body – i.e. Dip/Bsc/Msc Occupational Therapy.
Registration as an Occupational Therapist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Adult Protection Certificate level 2.
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
