East Lothian Children’s Services have an exciting opportunity for a senior practitioner to join one of the long term social work teams. The team consists of a team leader, three senior practitioners, three social workers, two family support workers and has dedicated administrative support. All of Children’s Services is located in an open plan office with onsite parking and we promote an open, trusting and communicative culture at all levels of the organisation.
Applicants should have a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of children and families social work role and responsibilities. Candidates should work well under pressure and be able to manage competing demands. We are particularly keen to receive applicants from social workers with experience in Signs of safety and Safe and Together.

To provide and promote a high standard of practice within Children’s Services and in multi-agency settings, through the provision of a service to vulnerable children, young people and their families/carers, in accordance with statutory obligations, policies and procedures.

Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Post qualifying award in Child Protection and Welfare or Practice Teaching or Securing Children’s Futures: Good Practice in Permanence Planning and Family Placement.
