Job Advert: Senior Practitioner – Safeguarding & Support
Contract: Permanent
Location: Plough Lane, Hereford, Herefordshire, HR4 0LE (Multiple locations – Ross on Wye, Leominster, or Hereford)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £39,513 – £43,693 (plus market supplement of £5,000 per year, £44,513 – £48,693)
Relocation Package: Up to £10,000 available
The Role:
Herefordshire Council is seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Practitioner to join our Safeguarding & Support Teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to our ongoing improvement journey, ensuring positive outcomes for children, young people, and families in Herefordshire.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with partner agencies to make a meaningful difference. You’ll also play a key role in the development of our team, providing coaching, mentoring, and support to apprentices, step-up students, and family support workers. Your input will be critical in implementing our practice standards, quality assurance framework, professional values, and policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to apprentices, step-up students, and family support workers.
Lead practice development and training initiatives within the wider service.
Contribute to the development and implementation of practice standards, policies, and procedures.
Work closely with managers to develop and implement quality assurance frameworks.
Support statutory social care and safeguarding work in the team.
Act as a leader and guide on complex case matters.
Contribute to the development of a safe and supportive learning environment for Herefordshire’s workforce.
Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in statutory social care, specifically within safeguarding and support.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Proven ability to manage complex cases and deliver positive outcomes for children and families.
Dedicated to delivering high-quality, relationship-based practice.
Excellent knowledge of social care legislation and safeguarding protocols.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
