Your new role
Southend on Sea Borough Council is looking for a permanent level 9 Senior Practitioner within Children’s Mental Health. The post is integral in offering therapeutic support to LAC children in foster placements, to provide an efficient and cost effective service to children, young people and their families and carers, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed.
You will be required to provide consultation on emotional, behavioural and mental health issues and contribute to the development of colleagues within children’s services by virtue of being an experienced and reliable practitioner.
Take lead responsibility for ensuring support plans for those young people scoring highly on the SDQ and reviewing the impact of such plans. While also ensuring that the team manager is kept fully appraised of problems arising from workload and seek advice as and when necessary.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you need to be a qualified social worker that is registered with the Social Work England registering body with Senior Practitioner experience.
Have previous mental health experience especially within children & families and a clear understanding of the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on development and capacity to achieve a sense of safety in relationships
