Permanent, Full-time Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £22,447.08 per annum, pension, and other benefits- 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, Westfield Healthcare Plan.

We are recruiting for a Senior Activity Coordinator based at in Pontefract to support the Centre Coordinator to ensure the delivery of high quality services within the Centre and community for former miners and those from mining communities.

Responsibilities of this role include leading on creating and developing an engaging and stimulating activity programme at the Centre that is beneficial for the client group and supports their needs; delivering various activity sessions, supporting clients to fully participate and engage with the activities; assessing the needs of the client group; adapting the activities to meet those needs where necessary; and ensuring the service and activities are accessible to a wide range of users including those with mobility issues and various disabilities.

This role will provide day to day supervision and management of the Activity Coordinators and deputise for the Centre Coordinator in their absence. You will take the lead in identifying opportunities to promote and market the service to new clients to the Centre and ensure that current clients are kept up to date of all upcoming activities in the Centre. This role will work with the Centre Coordinator to provide opportunities to provide outreach services in the community and liaise with other support agencies / individuals working with the client group or delivering activities within the Centre.

You will ensure that any safeguarding concerns are immediately reported to the Centre Coordinator and assist the personal welfare team with any relevant referrals. You must have: –

• Experience of developing and activities and programmes in a similar setting or out in the community;
• A driving licence and access to own vehicle;
• Be well organised and have a good attention to detail;
• Experience of working in community, health or social care setting;
• An understanding of and empathy with the client group; be able to use own initiative and have good problem solving skills;
• The ability and experience of producing written plans and reports to a good standard; have experience of using a PC and of using Microsoft software;
• An understanding of safeguarding / health and safety when working with this client group and be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with client information.

It would be advantageous to have a qualification in health, social care or community work and experience of managing a team/being a team leader.
