Hours: 18 per week
See Hear is the Scottish Government/CoSLA strategy for people with sensory impairments. As See Hear Implementation Officer, you’ll work to implement the strategy at an Edinburgh level. See Hear’s ambition is that children, young people and adults with sight and/or hearing loss receive high quality services, can take a full part in society, and fulfil their potential. To make this happen for Edinburgh citizens, you will develop and fund partnership projects with key organisations in the city, arrange a wide variety of training courses and develop and deliver a communications plan to raise awareness of local services and sensory issues.
This flexible and challenging role offers the right person the chance to use their creativity to develop new projects and gain/enhance their expertise and knowledge in the field of hearing and sight loss. The postholder will join the strategic planning team of the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership and will be an employee of the City of Edinburgh Council. This post is offered as a pensionable, fixed term contract of 18 hours per week for 1 year which, subject to confirmation of funding, we intend to extend.
The postholder will be based at Waverley Court, the Council’s HQ in central Edinburgh but will be home-based due to current coronavirus restrictions. Following removal of these restrictions, some home working may be possible.
If you have practitioner or professional level experience in the field of health and social care, or learning and development/project management plus knowledge of health and social care, learning and development, or project management, plus knowledge of health and social care issues, we would love to hear from you. It’s essential you have strong relationship-building and partnership working skills. You’ll also need skills in writing for the web and report preparation, be IT literate and be great at juggling multiple projects and managing your own workload. You will need a minimum HND level qualification to apply.
